Project Gyan is a transformative educational initiative founded by Yuvraj Khanna, a 17-year-old high school senior from Silicon Valley, California, USA, with deep roots in Indian heritage. Inspired by his recent visit to India, where he witnessed the challenges faced by underprivileged students in accessing modern technology and quality education, Yuvraj envisioned a project that bridges the digital divide and empowers young minds to break the cycle of poverty. Drawing from his background in a technology-rich environment, he launched Project Gyan to raisefunds for essential resources, including Chromebooks, Wi-Fi, clean water systems, backup power, textbooks, and a dedicated teacher for foundational computer and introductory AI skills. His vision emphasizes equitable access to AI education from childhood, fostering skills in image recognition, data analysis, and problem-solving to prepare students for global opportunities. This initiative reflects Yuvraj’s leadership, empathy, and commitment to social impact, turning personal observation into actionable change for 60 students in a small Indian school.
Project Gyan is made possible through the invaluable support of the Dr. Amrit Lal Ishrat Memorial Sunbeam Society, a renowned educational society in India dedicated to academic excellence and holistic development. Founded by the late Mrs. Deesh Ishrat in memory of the distinguished scholar Dr. Amrit Lal Ishrat, the society operates the DALIMSS Sunbeam Group of Schools, serving over 50,000 students across multiple campuses in Varanasi and beyond with world-class facilities and a focus on nurturing dynamic, caring citizens. Led by Dr. Pradeep ‘BABA’ Madhok as President, along with Mrs. Pooja Madhok as Director and Mr. Maahir Madhok and Mrs. Alisha Walia as Additional Directors, the society partners with Project Gyan to integrate technology and AI into underserved education, ensuring sustainable impact for future generations. Together, we are committed to igniting hope and knowledge for a brighter tomorrow.
