The Vision
In a small school in Rohania village near Varanasi, 60 young students step through the doors daily, their hearts brimming with dreams of becoming scientists, teachers, or innovators. Yet, their lives are shadowed by hardship: many lack adequate food, clean water, or access to modern education. Hope Ignited, the cornerstone of Project GYAN, is here to transform their future. Founded by 17-year-old Yuvraj Khanna, a Silicon Valley high school senior with Indian roots, this initiative is a powerful commitment to empower these children through education and technology, lighting a path to a brighter tomorrow.
Our Plan
With your generosity, Hope Ignited will raise $15,000, to equip this school with essential resources and expertise. Here’s our blueprint:
- 60 Chromebooks: Each student will gain access to a computer, many for the first time, unlocking a world of digital learning.
- Wi-Fi Connectivity: Reliable internet will connect students to global education resources.
- Clean Water Systems: Safe drinking water will boost health and attendance.
- Backup Power: Uninterrupted electricity will ensure seamless learning.
- Textbooks and Supplies: Essential materials will enrich the curriculum.
- Dedicated Computer Teacher: A skilled teacher joins to teach foundational computer skills from childhood, beginning with basics for first-time users, then advancing to introductory AI through hands-on workshops in simple image recognition, basic data analysis, and elementary problem-solving, building expertise gradually into adulthood.
- AI Education Workshops: Immediate sessions, led by Yuvraj and the teacher, will introduce students to AI, laying the groundwork for sustained learning.
The Impact
Imagine Priya, a 12-year-old dreaming of becoming a scientist, touching a computer for the first time. With Hope Ignited, she’ll master basic computing and code her first AI program, guided by a dedicated teacher who nurtures her potential from childhood. These 60 students will build confidence, acquire cutting-edge skills, and forge a path out of poverty. Early training in computers and basic AI will empower them to pursue university, launch careers, and uplift their families, creating a ripple effect of change in their community.
