Donation & Refund Policy

Note: Project Gyan does not sell products. The old site listed a generic "Refund & Returns" (e-commerce) policy, which doesn't apply to a charity. This page replaces it with a proper donation policy.

1. How donations are used

Contributions fund the program directly — laptops, internet, learning materials and dedicated teachers for underprivileged students at Prathmik Vidyalay, Narur, Varanasi. We operate on a 100%-to-the-field principle and report outcomes. See Transparency.

2. Refunds

Charitable donations are voluntary gifts and are generally non-refundable, because funds are committed quickly to time-sensitive program needs. However, if you believe a donation was made in error, was duplicated, or was unauthorised, please contact us as soon as possible (ideally within 14 days). We will review every request in good faith and, where appropriate and still possible, arrange a refund.

3. Online donations (GoFundMe)

Online gifts are processed through our public GoFundMe campaign. GoFundMe's own terms, donor protection and refund process apply to those transactions; we recommend contacting GoFundMe directly for payment-level issues, and contacting us so we can help.

4. Offline & INR donations

Donors in India can give in INR by cheque or bank transfer, and offline gifts can be arranged elsewhere too. Please contact us for current details — we will only collect the information needed to acknowledge your gift.

5. Receipts & tax

We will acknowledge donations on request. Tax-deductibility depends on your country and the giving method and cannot be assumed; please ask us about the current status of tax-exempt receipts in India or the USA before donating if this matters to you.
