Privacy Policy

Your privacy, respected in both countries

Project Gyan serves supporters in India and the United States. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect and the rights you have.

Last updated: 2026. Project Gyan ("we", "us") is a youth-led education initiative delivered with the Dr. Amrit Lal Ishrat Memorial Society. We collect as little personal data as possible and never sell it.

1. Information we collect

  • Contact form: the name, email and message you choose to send us.
  • Donations: online gifts are processed by GoFundMe, which collects payment data under its own privacy policy — we do not receive or store your card details. Offline donors share only what is needed to issue a receipt.
  • Basic analytics: aggregate, non-identifying usage data to improve the site. No advertising trackers.

2. How we use it

  • To reply to your message or volunteering / partnership enquiry.
  • To acknowledge and report on donations.
  • To send updates only if you explicitly opted in; you can unsubscribe anytime.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. Sharing

We share data only with: our delivery partner (the Dr. Amrit Lal Ishrat Memorial Society) where needed to run the program; service providers (e.g. email, GoFundMe) acting on our instructions; or where required by law.

4. International transfers

Because we operate between India and the United States, your information may be processed in either country. We apply this policy consistently regardless of where data is handled.

5. Your rights

India (DPDP Act, 2023)

You may request access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data, and may withdraw consent. You may raise a grievance with us first; if unresolved you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

United States

Depending on your state (e.g. California / CCPA-CPRA), you may request to know, access, correct or delete personal information and opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" — we do neither. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

To exercise any right, contact us (below). We will verify and respond within the time required by applicable law.

6. Children

Although our work benefits children, this website is intended for adult supporters. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children online. Photographs of beneficiaries are published with appropriate consent through our delivery partner.

7. Data retention & security

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was given, then delete it. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it, though no method of transmission is perfectly secure.

8. Contact & grievances

Questions or requests: please use our Contact page. We treat privacy concerns seriously and respond promptly.

This policy is provided in good faith for transparency. We may update it; the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
